TWO DEAD AND 15 PERSONS INJURED IN DROBO AND JAPEKROM CLASH
Two people are reported dead and 15 others injured between Drobo and Japekrom in the Jaman South District in the Brong Ahafo region. The Regional police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong has confirmed to Suncity.
According to him, the people of Japekrom were celebrating a festival and had to perform some rituals, including walking through the streets of Drobo.
He said when they reached a place near the Drobo palace they were allegedly attacked from the Drobo palace.
This resulted in death of two people with 15 sustaining various degrees of injuries and are receiving treatment at the Sampa Hospital. Some observers believe the empasse is a result of the a long standing land dispute between the two neighbouring communities.
Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong said the police and the military have been deployed to the area to restore calm.
The Municipal Chief Excutive for Jaman South Alhaji Abu says he will be meeting the two factions to restore peace.
